Nestling at an altitude of 2134 m above sea level and 665 Km from Kolkata, Darjeeling has been the favorite hill station, even from the time of Britishers. Apart from enjoying a hot cup of pure Darjeeling tea, tourist visit this magnificent hill station to get unhindered views of Himalayas and especially of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Visitors line Tiger Hill even before Dawn to get a glimpse of sun rising on the world's third highest peak Mt. Kanchenjunga. On a clear day, the view is really breathtaking. As much as Darjeeling is famous , the way of reaching Darjeeling is equally famous. The toy train starting from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling, a World Heritage Site, offers mesmerizing views of Eastern Himalayas. The many gompas and tea gardens add a calmness to the bustling hill station of Darjeeling.

Situated at an altitude of 1247 m above sea level, Kalimpong is a the headquarters of Kalimpong Sub-division in Darjeeling district. Situated on the northern part of West Bengal, Kalimpong shares border with North Eastern State of Sikkim. The hill station is situated on the ridge that connects Deola Hill and Durpin Hall. River Teesta flows under the valley and is the only physical boundary between Kalimpong and Sikkim. The many gompas and churches that dot Kalimpong, further adds to the silence of the this sedate hill station. The Tharpa Choeling Gompa, Tongsa Gompa are the main Buddhist Monasteries in Kalimpong. Tongsa Gompa is also called as Bhutanese Monastery, is the oldest monastery in this district and dates back to year 1692. Visit the famous Kali Temple and Mangal Dham Temples which are revered ba a lot of Hindus residing in and near Kalimpong. Mangal Dham Temple is considered to be among the most beautiful temples in India. Another attraction of this hill station is Dr. Graham's Home. The beautiful school was built in the year 1900 and still holds the same aura and charm. Don't forget to buy yourself some splendid Orchids from the flower market that is famous all over West Bengal.


Mirik is one of the most important and picturesque hill stations in West Bengal. With it's proximity to Siliguri (55 Km) and Darjeeling (49 Km), Mirik is fast developing into a major tourist destination. Situated at an altitude of of 1767 m above sea level, Mirik has some wonderful attraction to visit. The main attraction is the lake in the center of the hill station. The calm atmosphere and splendid views of the mighty Himalayas, are the major draw of the hill station. Here, you can see tourists indulging themselves in fishing, boating and taking a pony ride along the banks of the lake. It is a popular picnic destination as well among the many locales. Do not forget to visit temples of Shiva, Hanuman, and Goddess of Time. There is a temple dedicated to Singha Devi at a place called Debi Sthan. It is a revered temple among Hindus and is a hugely visited destination. Mirik is also a favored base for starting a trek tour into Himalayas.


Sandakphu, situated at a height of 3636 m above sea level, might not be famous for any tourist destinations, but is a true paradise for all adventure lovers. Trek to the highest point on this hill station and you will get the never seen before views of the Himalayan Range. A long stretch of Himalayas from starting from Bhutan till Mt. Everest is visible. River Teesta flows through Sandakphu at quite a pace. The thundering River Teesta also offers a great option for adventure sports especially river rafting. Sandakphu is the only place in the world where you will find a Rhododendron and Silver fir forests. To reach Sandakphu, one has to nearly trek for 12 hrs from Maneybhanjan, which is the gateway to Sandakphu. You can also hire a Landrover from Maneybhanjan.
