Indian Fairs & Festivals in JulyRath Yatra (All over India) - 24th June to 3rd July, 2010 Also known as Chariot festival, the mega event is organized at Puri. It is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, his sister Subhadra and brother Balbhadra. Thousand of devotees participate in pulling the decorated chariots, which sparkles with beholding the divine deities. Rituals are followed and the celebration takes place for 8 days. Rath Yatra at Puri in Orissa attracts tourist from different corners of the world. Nag Panchami (All over India) - 31st July, 2010 Dedicated to the worship of Snakes, Nag Panchami is observed on the 5th day of the moonlit-fortnight in the month of Shravan(July/August). Devout Hindus, Jain and Buddhist has compared legless carnivorous reptiles with sacred living creature possessing divine qualities. In West Bengal, Puja of Mansa Devi (Queen of Snakes) are performed and festival foods are distributed to the pilgrims. International Mango Festival (Delhi) - July, 2010 The internationally acclaimed Mango Festival is one of its kind in the catalog of fairs and festivals. The three-day event is celebrated in different parts of the India. Celebration in Delhi stands out of any comparison. Visitors get the chance to relish at more than 400 species of Mangoes. Urs (Ajmer, Rajasthan) - July, 2010 Urs is celebrated in the memory of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. It is held at Ajmer in Rajasthan, a place where burial of the Saint took place. Pilgrims , irrespective of caste and religion gather to pay homage before the divine tomb. It is the largest Muslim fair in India, which attracts tourist from all over the globe.
