What makes Cidade de Goa envious is its romantic setting between a green hill on one side and the vast expanse of Arabian sea on the other. The resort is on Vainguinim beach, which is on South of Dauna Paula.

Stretching over forty acres of naive land, Cicade de Goa was built like a Portuguese hill hamlet. This interesting architecture has even won it the international award R.I.B.A given by Royal Institute of British Architects. Bright murals and statue of Vasco da gama in his three facets as an adventurer, statesman and philosopher only make it more Portuguese and catch the visitor's fancy.

The resort is into giving a boost to the Goan art and fostering it. In its efforts to promote the art, the resort has set up an art gallery within its premises, Galleria Cidade.

The view from the lobby is enough to make you check in here. A vast stretch of Arabian sea , the waves inviting you to make a splash in the water.

Inviting Portuguese Styled Rooms

The rooms of the resort just like the architecture of are inspired from Portuguese style. There are many options to choose from to make your stay in Cidade de more interesting. The standard rooms are cosy and comfortable with interiors designed on split level basis. If you wish to see the sea from your balcony then go for superior rooms which are sea facing rooms with balconies. With ample of daylight and sea breeze in your room you will not feel like stepping out.

Premium rooms are for people travelling for business purpose. The rooms have been renovated and furnished specifically keeping in mind the business travellers and are located in the 'Garden Wing'.

Imagine a straight lead out from your room to the beachfront. The Deluxe rooms offer you just that and much more. These rooms have a heritage ambience and private sit outs which lead you to the sea.

The hotel also offers suites with all the luxuries. Cosily furnished, these rooms offer great sea view and have large balconies.

A Gourmet's Delight

That's true, Cidade de Goa offers many eating options to you. From Goan specialities to international cuisines, the beachside barbecue to oriental cuisine, it has everything within the resort.

'Alfama' is Cidade de Goa's speciality restaurant where you can savour some real Goan flavours. Serenaders are complimentary and its a perfect place for a romantic candle light dinner accompanied by some lovely music.

'Barbecue' is the seasonal restaurant set in tropical surroundings. At night its a diner's delight with great views treating eyes, food aroma filling the air and great seafood, grilled prawns and lobsters, paneer shashlik are cooked in open. There is vegetarian menu also.

'Beach Barbecue' (on Saturdays) is much the same except for it has a huge capacity of 175 and as you savour the grilled sea food, a live band and Limbo dance entertain you.

'Laranja' is the buffet speciality restaurant serving a range of local and international cuisines. The interiors are elegant yet simple. 'Fantan' is the heart of Cidade de though operational seasonally only. This oriental restaurant serves some of the most tempting east Asian cuisine. So whenever you are in mood of wonton soup, garlic prawns in Szechwan style or mouth watering honey pancakes with vanilla ice cream just drop by the poolside 'Fantan'.

Changing from a tea and snack lounge by the day to a jolly tavern by the night is 'Taverna'. And as the night passes away sing away to your mood with the pianist in the lounge. Attached to the lounge is a sundeck where you can just stand with a drink in your hand and watch the waves unfurl before your eyes and stars above.

'Bar Latino', no Latin connection, its Cidade's pool side bar, perfect for a laidback evening with cocktails. 'Lagoa Azul' is just the place to drop by for a cup of coffee or a quick bite. Located besides the swimming pool, it also serves light lunch.

As Goan as it Gets

Well it's not just the location of Cidade de which is unparalleled in Goa but also unique is how it keeps its guests entertained. 'As Goan as it gets' is the idea behind all the fun.

The resort organises 'Theme evenings'. For example, the 'Beach Barbecue' is the seaside dining experience accompanied by band and limbo dance. 'Goan Fishing Village' is a complete journey of that Goa which is behind the beaches, the fishing Goa. Complete with decor and authentic Goan cuisine, this theme night will take you through the traditional dance and music of fisherfolk in Goa. 'Glimpses of India' theme night will take you through a journey outside Goa. Classical and folk dances of India and Cuisines from 'Kitchens of India' pamper the guests.

But if you have come only for Goa and Goa is what hangs on your mind then the resort also organises exclusive Goan shows. Folk dancers of Goa perform local folk dances like Dekhni and many other popular dance forms.

Some Sporty Fun

Close to the beach, Cidade has one of the best water sports clubs in the country. It offers parasailing, waterskiing, jet skiing, wind surfing, speed boats and other exciting group water sports activities.

And if you don't feel like hitting the water then just go for the beach volleyball or there are well maintained tennis courts also.

And for its cute little guests, the resort has the 'Kidade club'. With a kids room just for them to play with loads and loads of toys, colourful furniture and a trained baby sitter, it's a perfect kids zone. Then there are special kids movies screened specially for them. The kids pool just next to the main pools is safe and perfect to let the kids make their own splash in the water. The resort offers baby sitting facilities while the parents unwind.

The resort also has a twenty four hour Casino, 'Goldfinger'. A classy affair, this casino has thrills like baccarat, black jack, roulette, and a computerised derby that is the resorts homage to the traditional kind of Vegas horse betting saloon.

Some of the interesting and unique things the resort offers are palmistry and astro numerology. Another interesting demonstration is the vegetable carvings. See before your eyes, a flower being carved out of a tomato. The gardener here will take you to a land of nature in its full bloom.

'Pavitra Ayurvedic Spa' is the resort's answer to many if not all your health disorders. The spa infuses you with the energy as soon as you enter, the walls are done in golden with teakwood massage tables. The spa offers the treatments like Sneha Abhyanga, Pizhichil, Sirodhara, Sirovasti, Pindasweda (Kizhi), Udwathana, Nasyam (Errhines). No matter which treatment you choose, the stress is on balancing the elements of air, water, earth, fire and space, the five elements which together form the human body.
