Rajamundry is situated on the left bank of River Godavari in East
Godavari district. Said to have been constructed by Chalukya ruler
Rajaraja Narendra in 1022 AD, it has the ruins of fine palaces and
fort walls.
Also to be seen is Asia`s largest rail-cum-road bridge on the river
Godavari linking Kovvur and Rajahmundry, considered to be an
engineering marvel. There are a number of temples here, of which the
Kotilinga temple on the bank of the Godavari is the most important
temples.
The Godavari Pushkaram, celebrated once in twelve years, attracts a
large number of pilgrims from all over the country.
